Come sing with us!!!

We sing in the a cappella oral tradition. No need to read music. All musical levels are welcome!

We focus on songs dedicated to the wellbeing of all.

We seek to collectively embody the songs we carry as a living, breathing community songbook.

Our intention is to share the seed of song in community spaces, encouraging community participation rather than performance.

Join us as we take a deeper dive into the simple yet beautiful songs we love to sing in our circles! This collective meets weekly, giving us a chance to delve more deeply into layers and harmonies as we allow the songs to sink into our bones.

San Juan's Day/Summer Solstice Sing!

Vibrant Sonoran desert scene with monsoon clouds approaching, saguaros, and prickly pear fruit.

On Saturday, June 24th (San Juan's Day & the traditionally-celebrated beginning of monsoon season), we will be holding a very special song circle on Mt. Lemmon to call in the rains and celebrate the Summer Solstice.

"The annual tradition of celebrating the onset of monsoon season in the Southwest begins with San Juan’s Day or Dia de San Juan on June 24. San Juan’s Day is the feast day for St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water. The monsoons are coming and soon the life giving water from the sky will bless our parched ground."

We will be gathering in the big meadow at Bear Wallow. You should be able to park along the side of E Upper Bear Wallow Rd (1st right after Box Camp Trailhead.)  We will have some signs directing you to our location in the meadow. Optional lunch outing in Summerhaven to follow!

All musical levels are welcome! We focus on rounds, layered, and unison songs dedicated to the well-being of all. There are many folks and families who enjoy this park, which means we are likely to be in different spots from month to month. Look around, and you'll be sure to find us! Please check the weather and bring whatever you need to make yourself comfortable outdoors, rain or shine.

$5-20 sliding scale offering.

You can listen to the songs we’ve shared at previous circles at tucsonsongcircle.com.

Valerie Osborne & Juliana Murphy co-lead the song circle. They are both graduates of the Littlebird Songleader Flight School for community songleading.

Valerie has gathered songs from many ages and diverse places. She fell in love with oral tradition community singing in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. She is honored to share songs that bring us together into community...communion and unity with ourselves and all of life.

Juliana comes to our circle with a lifelong love of singing and a library of original and collected songs that connect us to ourselves, nature, and the cycles and rhythms of being a human on this planet. Pop-up Sunset Song Circle - Sunday Soul-Soother

Pop-up Sunset Song Circle - Sunday Soul-Soother

You are invited to join and help create an impromptu sunset song circle this Sunday, August 14, at 7pm. This circle is intended to support us through singing songs that help us connect to ourselves and each other, to rest and recharge amidst the maelstrom. We will sing songs of solidarity and sovereignty and whatever other songs are needed for the bodies, hearts, and souls in attendance. Bring your requests or shoot me a message so we can all refresh our memories!

Come as you are. All of you is welcome: your grief, your rage, your exhaustion, your numbness, your playfulness, your stubborn joy.

Songs will be taught/reviewed in the oral tradition and sung a cappella or with gentle percussion. No prior singing or musical experience is necessary, just a willingness to be present and engage your voice, exactly as it is. Our focus is on participation, not performance. If you don’t feel like singing, speak the words with us. If you don’t feel like speaking, feel free to listen, connect, and sit in the vibration and presence of your community.

We will gather and sing under the mesquites in Limberlost Family Park, 4255 N 4th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85705. Follow the path to the north side of the park, and you should see us. There are many folks and families who enjoy this park, so we will use the large, open field as an alternate site if the mesquite bosque is full.

Bring whatever you need to be comfortable in a grassy outdoor area: mosquito repellant, chairs, blankets, cushions, water, flashlight. The sun will likely be behind the trees by the time we gather. The monsoons have also been blessing us, so bring what you need to be comfortable if it rains.

Please be advised that this park is inhabited by a large and adorable colony of ground squirrels. They will likely be tucked up in their homes when we gather, but please be mindful of the MANY holes in the ground and watch your step!

There are no restroom facilities at this park, so plan accordingly!
